IndependentYoga.com, Yoganomics.net, IndieYoga.com, Yogis.me have all been created to address different aspects of being a Yoga Teacher. Brad Warner Brad Warner was born in Ohio in 1964. In 1983 he met Zen teacher Tim McCarthy and began his study of Zen while he was still the bass player of the hardcore punk band Zero Defex, whose big hit was the eighteen-second masterpiece ?Drop the A-Bomb on Me!? In the 1980s he released five albums of psychedelic rock under the band name Dimentia 13 (that's the way he spelled it), though Dimentia 13 was often a one-man band with Brad playing all the instruments. In 1993 he moved to Japan, where he landed a job with Tsuburaya Productions, the company founded by Eiji Tsuburaya, the man who created Godzilla. The following year Brad met Gudo Nishijima Roshi, who ordained him as a Zen monk and made him his dharma heir in 2000. Brad lived in Japan for eleven years. He published his first book, Hardcore Zen, in 2003, followed by Sit Down and Shut Up! in 2007, Zen Wrapped in Karma Dipped in Chocolate in 2009 and Sex, Sin, and Zenin 2011 and There is No God and He is Always With You in 2013. These days he travels around the world leading retreats, giving lectures, and looking for cool record stores. At last report he was living in Los Angeles.

At 87 Phyllis debuted her CD ?Tango Insomnia.? Phyllis also produced a Jazz CD entitled, "Scenes of Passion? which she also performs on piano and sings vocals with Scarlet Rouge. Phyllis practices Yoga everyday, which she started at age 85. Yoga helps her maintain the balance, core strength and elasticity, she needs to continue dancing. Bringing Yoga to our Incarcerated Population & Janet Stone

Rikki Donahoe Rikki Donahoe has been teaching yoga at the Camille Griffin Graham maximum security prison for women in Columbia, S.C. since May 2008. In July 2008 she added four classes per week teaching Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. She started practicing yoga in 2003 and in 2007 decided to attend a teacher training to deepen her practice. Kath Meadows Kath Meadows started practicing yoga in 2000 to take the edge off life as a full-time homeschooling mother. It gave her a place to be that supported, nurtured, strengthened, and challenged her. Kath started teaching in 2009 with a strong desire to give back. Her first classes were taught in a women's prison. She now teaches three to four classes a week. Janet Stone Janet's personal yoga journey began in 1996 when she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, where she met an inspired yogi and became dedicated to a conscious evolution through yoga. She blends a wealth of knowledge and experience to create a unique, vigorous-yet-sumptuous approach to Vinyasa yoga that melds awareness with movement, breath, heart, and humor. She teaches workshops, retreats, and teacher training around the world. Janet is a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, having completed the 200-hour & 500-hour E-RYT program. Mountain Pose was designed by a physican for physicans, teachers, researchers, therapists and healthcare providers. It was as much a retreat for them to delve into their own practices as it was hands on and classroom based presentations of researched based information on how yoga, meditatation and other forms of alternative health are preventative, effective and life enhancing. I had the privelege of interviewing the husband and wife team Dr. Siegfried Bleher and Dr. Kimberly Williams seperately about their work researching and shedding light on the positive impacts that a yoga practice can have on ones health. They both teach and are trained in the Iyengar style of yoga which emphasizes the use of correct alignment and also the use of props. Karen Salmansohn Phyllis Sues - 89 Year Old Yogi, Dancer, Musician Phyllis Sues is an amazing yogi who came to her practice at the beautiful age of 83. In a recent article of Whole Life Times, Phyllis says yoga "helps her maintain the balance, core strength and elasticity she needs to continue dancing." At the age of 89, she is inspired to learn new skills she can use in her career each day. Sues has been physically active her whole life, beginning her love affair with dance at the tender age of 14, and performing on stage for many years. Today she continues to dance and perform in shows and competitions with her choreographer and partner Felix Chavez.
